New Facebook worm crawling through 'likes'

Thousands of Facebook users are reportedly falling victim to a virus attack that makes use of the social-networking site's "like" feature. The worm, which discreetly makes any random user appear to have "liked" a link, will infect your computer with Troj/iframe-ET worm.
status message
According to Sophos' senior technology consultant Graham Cluley, the messages being used by the spammers include the following:
  • "LOL This girl gets OWNED after a POLICE OFFICER reads her STATUS MESSAGE."
  • "This man takes a picture of himself EVERYDAY for 8 YEARS!!"
  • "The Prom Dress That Got This Girl Suspended From School."
  • "This Girl Has An Interesting Way Of Eating A Banana, Check It Out!"
Whenever you see these on your contacts' status messages, DO NOT CLICK ON THEM! Doing so will bring you to a blank website that just says "Click here to continue."

Should you click, you are unwittingly pressing the "like" button on Facebook, ultimately spreading the Trojan love to your contacts.

Fortunately, the risks of getting infected are low, according to Sophos' virus database. But we all know better than to risk having any unwanted bugs in our PCs.
